Fact sheet
What was announced, in numbers.
On 19 October 2026, Audacity North announced plans to build Canada’s largest MedTech innovation hub, in partnership with the Schulich School of Business and YSpace (York University). It is led by co-founders Keith Loo and Garry Lee, and starts with a working lab.
Operating today
- Accredited testing in Aurora: electromagnetic compatibility, environmental and mechanical, product safety, ingress protection and packaging
- A venture studio operating inside the founding partnership
- Megalab’s 45,000-square-foot testing facility in Aurora, home to the hub’s Aurora campus
- Commercial clients across Canada and worldwide
In development
- Wetlab build-out
- The Whitchurch-Stouffville campus: construction on phase one begins late 2027, opening in 2028
- Patient registry and biobank for the Institute
- Charitable incorporation and governance for the Logan Institute
Nothing here is described as operating until it is. Audacity North is a not-for-profit corporation. It is not a registered charity.
The campus
Seven buildings on the concept plan. Built as demand arrives.
The Whitchurch-Stouffville site is large enough to grow well past its first building. Phase one comes first, and the campus expands with demand.
What this plan is, and is not
- A concept for seven buildings on 86 acres
- Subject to municipal approvals
- Phase one: construction begins late 2027, opening in 2028
- Programming starts earlier, in Aurora, in 2027
Rare disease
The work that no market will fund.
Logan was born here in York Region with an ultra-rare genetic condition. He is the reason this exists.
Rare disease affects too few people for any company to fund the tools needed to study it. That is not neglect. It is arithmetic, and arithmetic does not correct itself.
The Logan Institute for Rare Disease Research is planned as a separate charity at the centre of the hub. It is in development: a patient registry, a biobank, and the governance to run them.
Nobody here builds medical technology for its own sake. If a company in this building cannot say whose life it changes, it is in the wrong building.
Founders
Two co-founders.
A short bio for introductions and a full bio for print, for each.
