MedTech and life sciences · Aurora and Whitchurch-Stouffville

Canada has never had a discovery problem. What’s been missing is the ground in between.

Audacity North is building it. A MedTech and life sciences hub in York Region, founded around an accredited testing laboratory that already works, and designed to grow into the largest of its kind in Canada.

Operating today

A working lab, not a lease

An ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory, accredited by A2LA, certifying products for companies across Canada and around the world.

From 2027

Aurora campus

Joint programming from the Schulich School of Business and YSpace at York University begins at Megalab in Aurora.

Opening 2028

Whitchurch-Stouffville campus

Construction begins in late 2027 on phase one of a campus designed to expand with demand.

The gap

Everything a MedTech founder needs is within an hour’s drive. Almost none of it is connected.

Where the pieces sit today
  1. Lab spaceLeased by the month, in whichever town has a vacancy.
  2. TestingBooked after the design is frozen, when changes cost the most.
  3. Clinical accessOne cold introduction at a time.
  4. Capital and talentSomewhere else, on someone else’s schedule.

Every hand-off costs a company months. Too many finish the work somewhere else. Audacity North puts the pieces on one path.

“I started Skinopathy from my home in Aurora. Most of what we needed was within an hour’s drive, and almost none of it was connected. Audacity North connects it.”Keith Loo, Co-founder

Some of this operates today. Some is being built. We always say which.

The campus

Seven buildings on the plan. The first breaks ground in 2027.

The Logan Institute for Rare Disease Research

Whose life does it change?

Logan was born here in York Region with an ultra-rare genetic condition. He is the reason this exists.

The Logan Institute is the charitable research institute at the centre of Audacity North. It will fund research and provide lab space for people studying rare disease, and build a patient registry and a biobank, so that families living with these conditions are counted, studied and reached by research rather than left waiting for it.

Rare diseases are underserved because each one touches few people. That is not neglect. It is arithmetic, and arithmetic does not correct itself.

Nobody here builds medical technology for its own sake. If a company in this building cannot say whose life it changes, it is in the wrong building.
